ROLE AND FUNCTION OF THE DIOCESAN SERVICE TEAM

To serve the Bishop of the Diocese in his pastoring and guiding of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in the following ways:

  • Encourage Catholic Charismatic Renewal members to personal holiness and to integrate fully in the Sacramental and Liturgical life of the Parish.
  • Provide avenues for Catholic Charismatic Renewal members to learn the authentic teachings of the Church in regard to the faith and the Word of God.
  • Foster the work of evangelisation.

Foster the growth of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal by seeking to:

  • Promote the continued renewal of Catholic Charismatic Renewal members, by recognising and encouraging their gifts and talents as well as conducting conferences, courses etc, including visiting teachers and producing newsletters.
  • Promote the proper understanding and use of the Spiritual Gifts.
  • Offer effective encouragement to prayer group leaders by organising periodic leadership training programs.
  • Discern any negative factors that impede the growth and fruitfulness of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and take corrective action.
  • Encourage the Catholic Charismatic Renewal’s ability to awaken all people to the fullness of Christian life.

To provide support services to affiliated prayer groups and promote unity of purpose by seeking to:

  • Regularly communicate with prayer group leaders and to listen to the needs and aspirations of the prayer groups.
  • Serve the prayer groups by providing help in activities beyond the resources of the individual prayer groups.
  • Foster cooperation among prayer groups to achieve a balanced plan of Charismatic events throughout the year.
  • Gather all prayer groups together periodically to provide a visible sign of unity of purpose.

 To represent the Catholic Charismatic Renewal at Diocesan level as follows:

  • Represent the interests of all prayer groups where a coordinated approach at Diocesan level is necessary.
  • Be the point of contact for other Diocesan bodies and bodies outside the Diocese including the Catholic Charismatic Renewal State and National Service Teams.
  • Maintain a relationship of dialogue and collaboration with the Catholic Fraternity of Charismatic Covenant Communities established in the Diocese and other groups as appropriate.
  • Support all other works of the Spirit within the Diocese and be a source of unity in the Body of Christ.
